ChatGPT is a fantastic tall for entrepreneurs – you can create compelling copy in a fraction of the time and cost of hiring a writer to do the same job, but it’s important to bear in mind that it’s only as powerful as the commands you give it. Using great prompts is the way to harness great content. Let’s take a look at some prompts I use when I need to get top quality content written.
1. ChatGPT Simple Blog Post Prompt
Getting a great simple blog post from GPT is easily done. To make sure it reads well and makes sense, we will give it a little more direction than just “write a blog post about (topic)”.
Here’s what we are going to need to specify:
- Length – ideally we are looking for 1000 or more words of informative content, to ensure our readers are getting a good answer. This is also useful from an SEO standpoint.
- Language style – by specifying the language style in the prompt, GPT is able to address a specific audience with relative ease. For example, an arts and crafts blog for kids written from a scientific standpoint makes little sense. Let’s make sure this is addressed.
- Formatting – telling GPT to write in a particular format makes it easier to modify and turn into a great blog post. We want to get appropriate headers, good lengths of paragraphs and maybe even tables where it makes sense.
- SEO minded content – we need to emphasise that certain keywords should be focussed on in the content if we want to rank well in search engines.
With all that in mind, here is a great prompt I frequently use for blog posts.
From the perspective of a (topic) blogger, write a 1000 word post around the title (title). Make sure the article is formatted in a manner typical of a blog post, and have SEO in mind throughout. We are looking to rank for the focus keywords (keywords list). Write it in a way which is atypical of AI.

This prompt is great for getting a really nice, concise output and a lot of the time you can simply do a bit of formatting and fact checking because the content is good right off the bat. It’s extremely rare that I will ever encounter text which has been generated by ChatGPT using this prompt that is not absolutely tip-top.
Right, now that we’ve got my favourite prompt for the actual content, let’s take a look at a few other really useful prompts you can use to elevate the quality of the content you can get out of it.
ChatGPT Prompt For Blog Post Titles
If you are struggling to come up with great titles and topics to write about, you’re going to like this one. With a bit of narrowing down to a specific topic, you can easily get a range of catchy and SEO friendly titles for your content.
Just use the following prompt:
With an emphasis on SEO and catchiness, come up with a list of 10 blog post titles which are perfect for the topic of (topic)

Alternatively, if you want a surprise, generate an article you like and then use the following prompt to come up with some other great related posts:
Write another article just like the previous one on a similar topic. Make sure that the entire contents of the article are completely different to the first article.

Using this prompt is great if you’re struggling to come up with original topics to write blog posts on in your niche.
The Best ChatGPT Prompt For Rewriting Text
So, you’ve got your article and it’s accurate, but it just sounds a bit – AI-ey… Not to worry, here are 3 prompts you can use to rewrite any text in a manner which is more appropriate to a blog.
- “Rewrite this but in a way which is more atypical of AI, from the perspective of a (topic) blogger in their 20s” – this prompt tends to get ChatGPT to write in a more human-like manner.
- “Rewrite this but in a more informal way which is typical of a blog post and focusses on being SEO friendly”. If you’re finding your content is a little short on relevant keywords, this one can be really useful.
- “Rewrite this article but in a way that an AI wouldn’t. Stick to shorter sentences and avoid using technical language where possible”
It’s worth trying all three to see which prompt works best for getting GPT to produce more appropriate content to your niche, especially if you are a writer for a more non-technical blog such as dogs, where jargon is unnecessary.
So we’ve got great content and a catchy title, with the content rewritten in a more appropriate manner. What else is there that we can instruct ChatGPT to do which can improve our content and ensure our readers get the most compelling content possible?
Well it just so happens that after several hours of playing around, I have a couple of other prompts you won’t believe you haven’t used before.
- “Emulating the writing style of (company or person), please write an SEO optimised blog post based on the following title: (title).
- Come up with a list of 20 keywords / blog post titles / ideas for blog posts (pick one) based on the following broad topic: (topic)
- Add this to the end of your blog post generation instruction: “Use internal linking where you see appropriate. You can use the following links: (list of URLs)”.
How to rank well in Google using SEO Optimized ChatGPT Content.
Ranking highly in the major search engines is absolutely essential in 2023, irrespective of what you are selling, if anything at all. Luckily ChatGPT is well trained on this topic, so including the following phrase in any prompt intended for creating content can be useful to really emphasise that SEO best practices should be optimised to increase our chances of ranking:
Pretend you are an SEO expert who is paid for their content marketing based on how much traffic is driven to your site.

Summary
ChatGPT is an incredibly powerful tool for increasing your productivity as an entrepreneur. Remember, it’s important that the content is better than anything else covering the topic at hand. By using these prompts you can really maximise the quality of your output and keep your readers engaged. Google’s algorithm favours informative, useful content that answers the public’s questions, so this must be at the forefront of your mind.
ChatGPT Alternatives For Writing SEO Friendly Content
If you are looking for a couple of alternatives to using ChatGPT for creating content, there are a couple of other fairly decent options. Although most entrepreneurs are probably going to find GPT4 to be the best option to go with, there are now several strong competitors to consider.
1. Google Bard – Best GPT Alternative For Keyword Research
Google Bard is essentially a direct competitor to OpenAI’s work, however it has received mixed feedback since its recent launch. In my opinion, it’s great for doing keyword research and coming up with good topics and niches to create products or informative content, however I wouldn’t really recommend (in its current state) to use it over GPT for creating full blown blog posts.
You can check out Google Bard for yourself here.
2. Jasper – Best Content Focussed GPT Alternative
Jasper is great. From a pure content generation perspective, you might actually find it to be even better than ChatGPT or GPT4. It’s been developed specifically for writing great content, and you can get it to fit your business perfectly by specifying what type of “brand voice” you are looking to achieve. To create content which fits perfectly in with your existing writing, Jasper.ai has to be one of the best options out there. It’s worth bearing in mind that it most definitely isn’t free though, but if you want to try it out with a free 7 day trial then you can do so by clicking here.
